Default A cheap alternative for strobes

My work has me going to construction job sites and pulling into construction road work areas, and so I wanted a simple strobe setup for the truck. I didnt really want to wire in a bunch of LEDs with switches or buy the expensive wig-wag kits where your drilling into your headlight housing. So I came across this OBDII Module that plugs in and can work off my steering wheel "OK" button, and uses all my existing lights!

Take a look and let me know what you think!

Product is "Speedturtle 2.0"

I like it. Seems pretty simple to set up, and you are definitely going to be noticed.

Thanks! Its a very cool little module for only $150, and to be able to do what it does would cost me hundreds more and installation for traditional strobes. I really think LEDs would make it so much better with a nice crisp flash.

I like it! I assume install is just plug it into the port? How about setting flash patterns and setting the "OK" button to be your trigger... how hard is all that? I have all factory LEDs... bet this would look sick.

Very simple, when you initially get the module, you have to plug it in to the vehicle( I believe so it can figure out what you have for lights). Once that is done you can either leave it plugged in or remove it from your truck and with a simple program that you download off the website and a supplied USB cord you can go through the flash patterns and activate the steering wheel control. In all it took about 15 mins to set up. The wire harness I got with it is a single button, but if you'd like to install your own switches they will give you a harness that will work with 2 switches so you can run 2 patterns, and then you have the steering wheel option, and there's also a park option. I run just the steering wheel option.

Yeah the LEDs are definitely going look tough in this situation!

P.S. when I say remove it from the truck I mean you can program the module in the OBDII and see the changes on the fly with a laptop or if you don't have that option you can bring the module to say a desktop and program it. but either way the module needs to be plugged in when you want to use the strobe lights.

That's pretty awesome! I don't like how it doesn't work while you're moving though. That drastically reduces what you could use it for. I wonder if there is a work around for this...

I talked with Livinitup about this and seeing if it was possible that we could use Forscan to get around this, but he said, its hard to know what they did to get that module to work.

Bear in mind, your vehicle is now illegal on the road in most states. For instance, in Texas, it is illegal to operate any vehicle on a public roadway equipped with flashing/alternating/etc. red, blue, or white lights, unless those lights are specifically authorized (turn signals, etc.) or the vehicle is an authorized emergency vehicle.

The enforcement of this will vary dramatically from state to state.
