Had my oil changed on my 17 F150 yesterday. I buy the oil & filter, the dealership charged me $ 9.00 for the labor & disposal.
Looked around the undercarriage while it was on the lift.
They did the oil change on my G/F 's Hyundai @ the end of May, I bought the oil & filter, dealership charged me $ 9.60,
.............................wonder why it cost more than my truck ??

Never had any real issues with the 2017/2018/ or the 2019 besides my fumoto valve breaking.
I would like to invest in a new metal valve so i dont have to remove my skid plate but eh.
Also, the stupid plastic slide for the oil filter hasnt worked for decades, i had a 2006 years a go and it did the same thing. Hard to explain but my driveway slopes down, if i point my truck down my drive way so the truck is on a decline, then drive it up on the ramps, the plastic slide actually lets the majority of the oil go down the slide. I loved the fact that my 2,7 had the oil filter on top of the engine. I had a oil filter relocation kit on my 2014 Ram, wonde if they sell something similar for the f150
Regardless, the amount of mess has always been cleaned up by a paper towel or two and i always use a carboard box under my pan to help if there is a splatter or 2,

Bought an extractor for my former Mercedes-Benz because there were 12 bolts to remove to get the belly pan off to reach the drain. And then the crankcase was covered with a foam sound insulation that I was certain would soak up the drippings. And drip itself for weeks. M-B mechanic friend said, "we just clean it with carburetor cleaner" confirming it would be a problem.
The spec fill was 9 quarts. After extracting all that would come out, 9 quarts was exactly middle of ADD/FULL. 8 quarts was right at ADD.
While it was relatively easy it took 15-20 minutes on my relatively large air compressor.

They make adaptors for just about any size filter threading. The 3.5 eco, and probably also the 5.0 and 3.5 Ti-VCT have 22x1.5mm threading, and the oe filter has a 2.4361" id x 2.835" od gasket, but the landing is large enough for just about any adaptor. Get the adaptor you want, then you can pick a remote mount for the type of filter you want.

Changing oil is really a joy! Easy to access drain plug not blocked by anything, at all. And pointed exactly in the direction it needs to be pointed for oil to easily drain into my oil catch basin. Doesn't splash off the crossbar or any other part of the vehicle. Then, super simple oil filter change! Wow! Take off the housing, remove the filter element, replace with a new one, and put back. Not designed to drain onto the vehicles frame rails so you keep dripping oil days after the filter change. Such a great design to have the oil filter on TOP of the engine! And easy peasy oil filler hole right in the front of the engine compartment right next to the dip-stick.
Yes, you guess it NO I am not talking about the F-150! I changed the oil in my wife's 2018 Cherokee this weekend. Too bad Ford engineers suck Donkey parts.

easiest vehicle ive ever owned is my current 13 edge with 3.5. oil filter hangs straight down
in front and drain plug is not aimed at anything. i leave the frt skid plate off the F150 case i dont off road.
not a bad job with the 5.0. and i use an 820s filter.
