Default Changing oil is a joy!

Changing oil is really a joy! Easy to access drain plug not blocked by anything, at all. And pointed exactly in the direction it needs to be pointed for oil to easily drain into my oil catch basin. Doesn't splash off the crossbar or any other part of the vehicle. Then, super simple oil filter change! Wow! Take off the housing, remove the filter element, replace with a new one, and put back. Not designed to drain onto the vehicles frame rails so you keep dripping oil days after the filter change. Such a great design to have the oil filter on TOP of the engine! And easy peasy oil filler hole right in the front of the engine compartment right next to the dip-stick.

Yes, you guess it NO I am not talking about the F-150! I changed the oil in my wife's 2018 Cherokee this weekend. Too bad Ford engineers suck Donkey parts.

My 3.5 L is a piece of cake. Sorry to hear about your troubles. Ford engineers put a drip pan/funnel under the oil filter, so I have no mess there. With the front wheels up on ramps the oil just flows out clear of the sway bar when I unscrew the metal plug.

Now the Bride's 1.6L Escape that oil filter drips oil over everything. Ford dropped the ball on that engine.

My wife's Equinox is great to change the oil on, too bad the rest of the car is big ol POS. Could the F150 be better? Yeah, but it's like 2 minimal extra steps to have no issues. It's an overblown issue

My Fomoto valve is money well spent. On ramps, my filter drains out the intended plastic drain. I swear, my 2020 3.5 is by far the easiest vehicle I have ever owned to change the oil, with zero mess, ever.

Insert "they had us at the first half" meme. I was scanning for info on your truck thinking one of the V6's are different cause I already see the drain plug will splash off the front sway bar and I pulled the filter a couple days ago and it drained off the front AND back of the crossmember.

The plastic drain works for the oil filter, but it keeps dripping for a day or two. No big deal if you have a dirt driveway, but it makes a mess of a garage or paved driveway.

I just make a car wash trip after. Shoot a little simple green or purple power on it before going in. Works perfect and satisfies the Bi-weekly wash

With a leveled truck on ramps, pointed up an inclined driveway (yes wheel chocks), I learned the hard way the the oil filter mess will drain out the back of that fancy drip tray as well as the front. I'll probably just forego the ramps next time.

My F-150 has a Ronin plug. Easiest car was my 2014 Jaguar XJL since the entire change was done from the top of the engine. Oil was extracted using a vacuum extraction pump. NO mess at all.
