Default Changing headlight bulb ?

So I bought my Lariat about a mouth ago and cant stand how dim the factory headlights are . I wish they had one with the LED headlights when I bought mine but thought I could just change them out to LED or HID lights on my own as I have done with cars in the past. So the manual says take 2 screws out and 1 push pin. I did that and there is no way to get to the Headlights. I take 2 more screws out and a few more push pin and now I can see the high beam but still cant get to the low beam bulb. I can feel it but no way I could change it with so little room and in the blind. So I take my truck to the dealer and ask if someone can show me how to change the bulb. A service tech come out and looks at the manual. Tells me to take 2 screws and a push pin out. I tell him they are already out please show me how to change the bulb. So after 15 minutes he says he is not sure and would have to look into it and has another tech come out. He is also stumped and says looks like you have to remove the whole plastic wheel well cover. I know others on here has installed HID or LED headlights so am I and the tech missing something or is there a lot more then just removing the 2 screw and 1 push pin ?

No that's pretty much it on the halogen bulbs...

Just like the Owner's Manual says: remove the 2 screws and push pin, pull the inner fender liner back, remove the rubber plug, turn the headlamp bulb counter clockwise to remove from the headlamp housing and disconnect the wiring harness from the bulb.

That's all there is to it

Are you doing everything in the blind ? How do you disconnect the wire harness. With just the 2 screws removed and the push pin I was only able to get my hand up to the high beam bulb and only one hand in there. How do the Ford techs not know how to change the bulb ? I'm baffled .

Frst, turn the steering fully to the lock on the side you're going to work on. Then, fold the fender liner up and behind the wheel. It'll rest on the top of the wheel. Then, you can reach in and pull the big rubber plug and change the lamp.

There's a whole long topic on this forum. You'll need to search for it.

I have turned the wheel. The problem is the liner will not pull back . It only pulls back about 5 inches and that's with a lot of force. Even after I removed another screw under the fender lip and another push pin in the center of the liner it still will not pull back far enough.

the only thing I found doing a search is others having the same issue I'm having . The only solution was the guy had to remove much more then the 2 screws and 1 push pin . I thought maybe I missed something simple but I guess it just my hands are to big lol

It folds back and up from the outside bottom corner. It'll feel like your next step will be to buy another liner; that surely it'll break. But it doesn't.

Look in the on-line F-150 manual. Page 314.

Just did both headlights and fogs. Much easier if you just remove the tire. So much more room. Yeah removing the tire sucks but ......

I found turning the wheels the opposite of what the owners manual says, is better, IMO. Turn into the side you are working, vs away. At least with the 20" wheels, I found it easier. I also took out the push clip at the top of the wheel liner, and one more screw, (3 screws, 2 clips) to get a bit more room.

I did the same thing and while able to get to the low beam bulb. After getting all the wires from the relay tucked away I went to install the bulb only to find its to long So anyway these are going back tomorrow and I think I'll get an LED set instead on the HID.
