I read elsewhere that even the dealer can't change the code. This does look like a blindingly stupid error from Ford. Now there's at least one meathead out there who can unlock my truck anytime they want. Including the previous owner(s) (who may or may not be a meathead)...

So is this what disables the door keypads? 726-37-01x*xxxxxxxxxx Keypad Enable Cfg: 0=disabled, 1=enabled

You cannot change the factory code.

Dealer cannot change the factory code.

Replacing a component, i.e BCM, would give you a new code.

Yes, every Ford with a keypad can be opened by original owner...

Anyway, one curious thing is the factory card that has the keycode on it was sitting on the passenger seat so I presume the guy plans to come back. So I need to change the factory keyless entry code. I can't seem to find it in Forscan and all I can find on google is how to retrieve the existing code. I found one post on the Forscan forum where one guy says the factory code can't be changed which must be wrong.

So can anyone help me out?
Sorry to hear that,

You can't chage your factory master keyless entry code unless if you change out the entire body control module. PATs is embedded in the BCM. That's why you should never ever leave that card in your vehicles. The white card is the master factory code. While you can change your door code and our vehicles support up to 5 at a time, the master door code will always stays the same unless if you change the BCM.

There's three ways to do that.
1. Spend $2500 on a new BCM and programming like I did in Leduc
2. Set the address in ForScan which is highlighted in red (the one which says: never ever change this), and make a warranty claim saying the thunderstorms fried your BCM, which may amount to fraud come to think of it.
3. Grab one from a junk yard for about $500, program it with ForScan and program keys at the dealer.

On a side note, you can disable the horn honk on lock button press. So your wife can hammer that lock button as much as she wants and the truck will never make a noise.

Yeah, the sales guy told me to leave the card in the truck so I'd always have it. Ford gives you a nice compartment in the manual for just that purpose, how nice of them. Obviously in retrospect that was stupid advice.

I disabled the door honk a couple of weeks ago when I installed the after-market remote starter... So my wife was alarmed when she pressed 'lock' three times (waiting for the beep) and the truck started. She still does the 'click til beep' thing on her Edge.

Thanks for your help. I just disabled the keypad in Forscan and confirmed it no longer works.

What brand of remote start did you install? I used an iDatalink ADS ALCA. I flashed it to start on lock-unlock-lock. That way I can retain the horn honk on double lock, but I can remote start silently. I don't think the equivalent Fortin solution allows for lock-unlock-lock.

It was an eBay one that connects to the connector behind the obdii connector. It's lock-lock-lock to start and the same to shut off. I think this is it: https://m.ebay.com/itm/2015-18-F150-15-16-FUSION-15-18-EDGE-100-PLUG-PLAY-CAR-STARTER-REMOTE-START/122719032424?fits=Make%3AFord%7CModel%3AF-150&hash=item1c929fd468:g:zIgAAOSwCV5ZyvWf&_trkpar ms=gclientid%3Dk41xKW_kvjzDXzpHGlRwERlFIi6jdYCCjPN bwpmMSlGzsTq8BtXXVJ96OTsxOSMq&_trksid=p2489528.m43 35.l8656

That a Directed unit, yet another brand. I don't know if they support lock-unlock-lock to remote start. When I looked last year, it seemed like iDatalink was the only one with that option.

I assume you are speaking of the keypad on the door to gain entry? If so, changing the entry code is clearly stated in the owners manual. Just did mine tonight. Enter the factory code, press 1.2 then enter your new code and press 1.2 again. The doors will lock and unlock confirming the code change. If you want to change it again you follow the same steps but press 3.4. Am I missing something?
