Chains again
That said, I've never done that. I've always used full chains on both axles similar to these:

Every time I've used them my shocks have sustained cosmetic damage to the shock cover, but that's it. I would caution on using them however because they can take out a brake line if not installed well.
I have chains similar to the ones in the above link.
They fit fine on the tire, while in the garage. Seems to offer clearance. I have not seen how loose the chain will be when rotating at any speeds though. They seem like they should fit okay. I'm not sure why Ford recommends not using chains, unless for the thought mentioned above with taking out a brake line.

Technically Ford only wants us using S Class chains on the rear tires only.
