Ceramic Coatings
I am wondering if anyone has tried any of the ceramic coatings on their truck; either instead of or in addition to, regular waxing? If so what brand and what do you think of the quality?
Are you asking for consumer level products or professionally applied products?
The 2-3 year high end products typically require some certification to be applied. Not all, but some.
You can get 2 year protections and apply it yourself. You'd probably want to have experience in laying down the coatings though.
For what it's worth, the new Turtlewax Hybrid line has been getting great reviews.
I couple weeks back I applied TW wax/polish along with the ceramic spray coating. I can't tell you how long it will last but I can tell you that with the application process I used, the surface was one of the smoothest I've had.
I haven't gotten it wet yet but will be soon and will know how well it beads and sheets.
I have silver so it's really hard to make it look like a red or black truck in terms of shine.
I was happy with the shine and depth it brought to my silver truck though.

I wouldn't buy into the whole consumer vs professional grade marketing talk. It's just a way to get more money out of the consumer. If you believe a ceramic coating will last you 8 years then I have some beach front property in North Dakota to sell you.
Ceramic coatings also take just as much upkeep as normal clear coat. Otherwise it will clog and lose its hydrophobic properties.

I also recognize that I will be applying at least once a year (currently wax 2x). I live in snow and mud country in Montana, so the finish really takes a beating and I'm just trying to stay on top of it. But with the new technology that continues to come out, I was thinking that maybe the ceramic coating might give a little bit more protection.
Yep, I get it. Fortunately I'm not that gullible
