I know there is a plastic kit that you can install at the bottom of the console to create divisions and make it less of a mess.
Anybody done that out of wood?
I'm looking for a template for a 2015 XLT.
I know I could buy the plastic version but I have plywood in the garage and it could be a fun "simple" project.
Yeah, it was fairly easy. The only pain is that the bottom is larger than the hole to fit the piece in...so I had to bevel the front and back (I think it was 45-degrees, on the bottom) for a tight fit, then the vertical walls had to be taper or else it wouldn't fit. I used hard maple and Titebond III then sealed it. TBIII is the strongest wood glue I've ever used and it's plenty strong without fasteners to hold it.
To do just a divider like you're talking about you can just run a couple Dados half-height and slide them in...I wanted to be able to slide my clipboards so I really only had that option to keep it under the factory tray without drilling. Another benefit to having the base is that I can add anything else I want without modifying the console.
