Default Center console lock security

I just realized that there is a key lock on the center console lid in my truck. I typically buy a console vault to store my Sig P365 when I am forced to go into somewhere I cant carry. Would you trust the factory lock in the console lid to secure your ccw from the casual smash and grab thief or should I go ahead and get the console vault?

Nope, It's a quick pop of a screw driver.

I have this one for this exact purpose, I like that it only takes half of the console up and I can still use the tray. I believe the model numbers are different for 2018 as the inside of the console changed slightly.

I would if I hadn't told everyone there was a Sig P365 in my center console.

Get the vault. Since our trucks have no valet key you will literally be giving the valet the key to easily open your console, no matter what it has in it.

Just the other day I moved the lock from my stock STX console lid to a Platinum lid during a swap. The lock was made mostly of plastic, I wouldn't trust it to protect anything.

I wouldn't do it. If you want to store a pistol in your truck find a really good hiding spot or try something like a fort knox pistol vault.
