Default Please help: check engine light code P2418

Hi,

please help...

2015 F150 2.7

Code P2418.
evap switch control valve circuit open

I replaced the Vapor canister purge valve already:

After replacement, the CEL went away immediately.
Driving the truck has never changed, with or without CEL on.
Now after 2 days the light just came back on with the same code P2418.

Did I replace the correct part?
What should I check next?

Your help is much appreciated. Thanks

This is all the PC/ED Manual says:

P2418 – Evaporative Emission System Switching Valve Control Circuit/Open

Description:

This DTC sets when the signal moves outside the minimum or maximum limit for the commanded state of the evaporative emission (EVAP) vapor blocking valve.

Possible Causes:

  • VPWR circuit open
  • VBV circuit open
  • VBV circuit short to ground
  • Damaged EVAP vapor blocking valve
Diagnostic Aids:

None

Thanks. I did read another post about three same issue. From that it said that the VBV is on top of the fuel talk. I probably have to drop the tank and see if I can see anything going on.

Just wondering, after replacing the part, Did you have the code cleared
Mine did the same code, replaced the part you did, and had to clear the code after
If you dont, it will keep coming back after a day or so.
Autozone should be able to clear the code for ya

It came with my Workshop Manual and Electronic Schematics that I bought from

https://www.factory-manuals.com/

It was considerably less expensive when I bought mine.

Or you can go here, but a 72 h subscription for $21.95, and download your own.

Read the code description; it says >>circuit<< open or shorted to ground.

Did you ever resolve the issue? I am getting the same code on my sons 2915 and I am not sure which part I need to replace to fix it.

I replace the blocking valve that’s on top of the gas. It was $300 from Ford. This did not fix anything. I have the P2418 still

my alarm is a switching control valve connection fault all the connections seem OK I need help. Ford is already wasted $800 in my money. They don’t care all they’re gonna do is replace parts. I can do that too.
