Default CAUTION with Bilstein 5100 installation

Thought I’d make a thread on this since I came across it last night and saw a lot of other people had the same issue I did.
The issue is, if you have a shop install these for you, they’re more than likely going to install your rear shocks upside down. They’re doing this because instead of reading the manufacturer installation instructions, they’re installing them based off how the stock ones came off. The correct orientation of the bilsteins is with the boot portion at the bottom and you should be able to read the logo stickers rightside up.
The warranty is voided on the product if installed upside down.
Anyways, hope this helps some people before they have them installed.

Did my rears in the driveway without even removing a wheel or lifting the truck. Took about 30 minutes and even installed them correctly. Fronts were done at a local shop and had no issues. People should probably do their own rear shocks.

This may sound like a stupid question but how are you able to do this if you decide to put the rears at the highest setting? I'm trying to visualize it.. because aren't you able to essentially lift the back of the truck an inch or two by doing this?

The rear 5100's do not provide any lift. They allow an extra inch of suspension travel so that if you swap a 1" taller block you will not hinder suspension travel, but they don't provide any lift of their own, that's just the fronts

This thread made me look at mine. Sure enough, upside down. Two years and 15,000 later. Should I change them, or will it matter?

To be honest I have no idea if it makes a difference. This video is awesome if you want to fix it

Interesting. I have this upgrade on my to do list and pretty sure I wouldn't have read the instructions and would have installed them wrong.
