Default Catalytic converter problem ?

Anyone having converter problems ? Last Sept. a year ago I had a check engine light come on and took it to dealership . They pulled up P0420 Bank 1 catalytic converter restriction and failure . They replaced it under warranty (30,620 miles) and had no problems until now . About three weeks ago check engine light comes on and before I can take it to get it checked out light goes out (about 3 days) . Go another 4-5 days and check engine light comes back on . I take it to Autozone to pull code and it comes up P0430 Bank 2 Catalyst System efficiency below threshold . This was on a Friday and by Monday morning light went away . So drive a few more days and light came back on . After 2-3 more days light is back off , I'm at 46,500 on the truck . Anybody else having this trouble on your 3.5 Ecoboost engines? I'm going to take it in this week to see what up with it.

Even with the light off, unless you've cleared the codes, they'll be stored and the dealer can pull them up. Good luck!

I have a P0430 going right now. Taking it in Thursday for the recall and to see about the CEL. From what I can gather, it usually either the Cat. Converter or 02 sensor.

I have the 2018 2.7L with 8100 miles

Had that code three times and three catalytic converters later they found it was because rodent damage. It happened around this time of year too. Might be worth a check under your hood to see if you see any footprint marks or insulation being chewed. I doubt it's rodents, but you never know they are everywhere.

What kind of gas are you using or what additives are putting in.

I will take a look and see if I have any signs of it. I have an appointment Thursday anyway and I will see what they do.

Just had mine replaced last week at 49K. It's covered under warranty, the cat has a 8yr/80k mile warranty.

If they replace mine it will be the second one . Seems odd they would fail so soon. I’ve had other vehicles including other Ford trucks and have never had this problem. Only thing close was a 2000 Tundra and frequent O2 sensor replacement.

Mine failed at 15,000 miles on my 2.7. Replaced under warranty, 28,000 miles now. No further issues. After it was replaced I run strictly 93 octane, top tier gas. No discount crap.
