Catalytic Converter Needs Replacement
2020 F-150 Super Cab 2.7 EcoBoost. I got a MIL light today. Ford Pass says engine needs service catalytic converter. It falls under TSB 22-2260. My truck is just before 30,000 miles. I guess Ford was supplied garage catalytic converters.

This morning, the check engine light is off. I guess those two 100 MPH pulls desulphated the converter. I expect the check engine light to return. The parts have been ordered.

Just to expand on your issue.
It would be wise to look at the front and rear Ox Sensor action for both banks to see if the other bank shows an indication of expected failure.
What to look at is the the action of the rear Sensors located in the Cats for there response to Oxygen content in the Cats as the engine is running.
Why; the rear sensors are used as oxygen detectors to evaluate the Cat heath.
If they begin to move their outputs too much following the fronts, the Cat is not in full good health doing it's job. of cleaning the emission up to an Ox level specified in program.
The detection is done by monitoring the >ratio< of Sensor response to the front Sensor. This is what you look at with a Scanner.
The bottom line is:
Is there oil contamination from the motor passing to much oil?
Is it the gas being used etc.
Is it additives being used in the Gas etc.
Was there ever any cylinder misfires due to Coil failures that allowed un-burnt fuel into the Cats and caused them to overheat when ignited in the Cat?
.
Reason for being a concern is the failure may happen again from contamination, if that is obvious.
Both the front and rear sensors should e replaced along with the new Cat because they were subject to the same conditions.
Best to know as much as possible while the job is being done.
Good luck.

It does not use oil.
No misfires.
No loss of coolant.
93 Octane fuel. EPA has mandated low sulfur fuels.
I do suspect that the fuel trim might be a little off. Although, my fuel mileage hasn’t changed.
It’s my intent to have it fully checked out by my Ford dealer.

I’ve already done that. The parts are on order. It will probably take forever for them to get here. Thankfully, the light went out. I guess those two 100mph pulls got rid of some of the sulfur.
I give a ****. I don’t want this to happen again in another 30,000 miles.
