Default Cargo bed tie down brackets?

I bought a kit from Amazon to install the removable tie down brackets for my '19 XLT. Are machine threaded screw supposed to fit in the four holes? Line X sprayed right over the holes but after scraping that away I'm not seeing any threads and didn't know if there's something else I'd need?

thank you

So I'm thinking they sent the wrong screws and they should be self tapping. I may just swing by Lowes and pick up some- anyone know if number 8 screws will fit properly?

The holes are not pre-threaded. The bolts you get will form the threads in the aluminum when you install them. It takes some effort as you are forming the threads, but they will thread in all the way.

Yup this^ the bolts cut the threads. It's that way for the mounting plates and for the OEM bed extender as well

Interesting, my mistake then. They were on the truck when I got it so I assumed they were pre-threaded

Meaning they do need to be self tapping screws or you actually push really hard and form the thread with a machine threaded screw?

Most self tapping screws/ bolts that I have seen are just a little bit smaller at the end to help get started in the hole. Also many will have a slight cut across the threads at the end to act as a relieve.

Agree, the ones I got are definitely not self tapping.

So I pulled the bolt out of the BoxLink plate in my truck. It definitely has some tapered threads at the end as you can see. FYI, they are M6 x 1.00 with T-30 drive.
