Car Play - Dimming issue

Car Play - Dimming issue
I have a 2017 Lariat with 502a that is not dimming the stereo screen along with the dash when using Car Play. The strange thing about this is if I adjust the dash dimming (brighter or dimmer, it doesn't matter) the stereo screen goes to a setting that matches the dash dimming. I need to do this after every restart of the vehicle. Has anyone else had this issue? Have you found a fix?

Mine does this about 50% of the time. I use AA, but i find that it usually happens on remote starts, and will happen with the regular sync screen too. Same deal, I touch the dimmer down button and it drops from FULL SUN to whatever I have it at, skipping like 5 or 6 steps. I figured mine was possibly because I changed my theme to the GT one with Forscan but if yours is stock I would just assume that its a bug in Sync

My 17 Lariat 502a SYNC3v3 8" does the same thing...
@Bojans Did you make Forscan changes?

Im not sure if it is the same issue, I had a problem with my sync3 being way too bright. I found in the settings on sync3 that the display has its own brightness setting, after turning this down my problem was solved.

If you have it set to auto brightness it defeats the manual brightness. I'm not talking about auto day/night but the setting below it. Shut it off.
I thought it was because I hacked my radio with Forscan.

My 2018 does the same thing whether or not I'm using Carplay. Every morning after I pull out of my driveway, I have to click down once on the dash dimming and then my 8" screen goes from full brightness down to a lower level to match the dash. It's very obnoxious that it won't do this automatically. I have the display set to auto-dim.

Yup I have the same issue. Not sure if it’s related to remote start or not? Sometimes I notice and sometimes not.

This is a known, annoying issue... and it's not just with AA/CP. The (unofficial) Sync 3.4 upgrade fixes this problem, if you're willing to take the chance of hacking on your radio a bit. There's a long thread here: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/upgra...ctions-458828/

I have the same issue with my 302a '18 XLT. Does it predictably without anything connected to the USB ports. Hit the dim UP button, and the screen brightness drops to the correct level. Taking it to the dealer next week for service. Only 16000km on the truck, so I'm going to push them to get it fixed.
