Default Cannot Wait for Android Auto (Sync 3 Update)

I’m getting more and more anxious for the Sync 3 update to drop so decided to look into Android Auto a little more – I’m guessing many of you are already familiar w/ it but for those of you who are not, the below video does a decent job showing how Android Auto will look & interface on Sync 3.

Honestly, I cannot wait. One thing I did find interesting is that Android Auto only works over USB, not Bluetooth which I was not aware of. I’m currently not in the habit of plugging my phone in as I rely solely on BT. However, it will be worth it to have the added functionality. Fingers crossed that this update rolls out soon!

If they ever. I hope they don't scrap it for whatever reason.

It is my understanding that you will only have to use USB for the initial setup. After that it should work on BT. I'm looking forward to the release as well.

Other than Google maps, what does AA really do?? I can see Google maps being superior to the OEM Sync version but I don't see anything else in that video that gets me to jazzed up. I feel like I'm missing something. Plus, the little I do use my Sync nav, it has worked just fine.

I look forward to having full control over my google music, including new random stations. I didn't get Nav because my expedition had it and was outdated almost instantly. Google Maps is way better and will even redirect you around accidents and heavy traffic areas automatically.

Ah, got it. Thanks for the info. That would make sense and hopefully will be the case.

Yep, agree with all points. Google maps is huge for me as I intentionally did not purchase nav on my Lariat knowing AA was coming. In addition, having the Google Now capability will be great as well including being able to scan text, weather and other notifications at a glance on a readable always on screen.

We've been waiting so long that all the nesting birds around here have hatched their eggs, the young birds have fledged and flown away. 3 fish in the pond have died and we are already harvesting watermelon.

Really glad I'm not holding my breath for this or any other update from Ford. And I'm still waiting for answers why Ford Owner in the truck Ford Apps says my truck doesn't have Sync 3 (Lariat w/502a and Technology Package) or why FordPass continues to tell me I have to have the truck stopped to use (sitting in the driveway in Park). It's been over a month since Ford IVT said they would look into it.

Otherwise, this truck is much improved over my '07.

Due to needing to be wired its not that suitable for daily use. But anytime you are going to be travelling it will be really nice.

And yeah, this update has been a very very very very very very very long time coming.
