Found the more vehicles own, exterior color is becoming less of an issue. I trade when warranties expire, that comes quicker then think.
Today have narrow choices But will say Ford has better options than GM. Like the King Ranch two tones and the Limited special interior
colors. When got my 16 BMW X5 M said just find one with white leather interior, exterior no big deal, What I see is the interior. Would
like to see the color below as a limited option
I wanted a Lariat with the Special Edition package (I had a Blue Flame 2013 w/ the package and loved the look). But I didn't want any of the "standard" Lariat colors. I wanted Race Red or Lightning Blue or maybe even Oxford White. But no one ever has those colors in their inventory as a Lariat, never mind with the appearance package. I could only find those colors in the XLT. I supposed I could have ordered, but...
I am really happy with my Race Red. Except for being a 2016 XLT, I ordered it just like yours, ie: max tow, 6.5 bed, 3.5, screw, etc. I have not seen another SE like mine in Race Red. SE came out in late '16 and wasn't available in Race Red in '17. So mine is sort of rare.
Dealers don't seem to order Race Red that often, I've been told they don't sell well. The stripes show up/stand out well on Race Red. I get lots of comments all the time on my truck from male and female of all ages. I am used to getting comments because I drive classics, but to me the truck is just a truck that I fixed up the way I like it. I think what makes it stand out is the color along with black stripes and wheels that match the color of the truck.
Having said all that if Lightning Blue had been available, who knows. And Lead Foot also looks good with SE package.

It looked good on the lot and was priced right. 502a, Platinum White, 3.5E, Max tow. It looks good at home in the driveway. That is what counts the most. Went from a 16 Magnetic 501a Lariat that looked good at home also.
I have a 17 KR in Ruby Red and Caribou and love it! My 2013 XLT Screw was Blue Jeans and Ingot Silver. My 2003 XLT Screw was Toreador Red and Arizona Beige. That color of red was not quite as dark as the Ruby.
Needless to say I love two-tone trucks.
Back in 2003 when I got rid of my 1990 chevy extended cab (it was two-tone as well, Catalina Blue and Quiksilver) one of the many reason I bought my Ford was because you could get them in two-Tone.
I don't have a picture of my 2003 Screw or the 1990 chevy. LOL
If you're keeping it a long time I'd suggest a color that is always available each year. That way you prevent having an outdated color. Personally I'd recommend the white platinum. I find it easy to keep clean.
