Wanted the 2.7 at first but remembered Ford had so many issues with the 3.5EB when it came out... ended up buying the 2nd gen 3.5 ecoboost instead (I lose 1-2 MPG, I know, but at least I get to have the 6.5FT box with my crewcab!)
Also bought Ford's ESP 5yr/60k just in case (I had it almost at cost), but I don't like losing my time at the dealership when something breaks, even if it's free, I still have to drive there ha ha.

So far the only thing that has broken on mine is the passenger seat! LOL A noise dampener broke loose and makes a lot of NOISE now!
Enjoy the new truck!

Yeah, that was a video from mechanics at one dealer. There are far more ecoboosts sold, so they fix far more ecoboosts....not surprised they would want the 'rarer' truck that is easier for them to work on. I wanted a 5.0 too, and drove one, then I drove the ecoboost.

Yes, incentives are far greater (by about 4 grand) on the 2017 2.7 models compared to the 2018 2.7 models. Actual sticker prices aren't much different. Of course, 2017 selection drops each day. Personally, I would rather have the 4 grand given the choice between the two, even though don't mind the new grille on some of the 2018 models.

Just purchased
We we just purchased our 2017 F150 and did not know about any issues. Purchased maintenance and ESP warranties. I like you don't have to think about repair cost. Had ESP on our 202 Explorer Linited. Worth every penny.
I'm only joking.
You will run yourself ragged trying to avoid TSB's. ha
I tend to just buy what I want and then buy a Ford ESP 7yr/125K warranty premium plan with zero deductible and same day rental. Whatever happens happens but I want be walking thats for sure, at least not for 7 years. Then I want a new truck anyways.
Seriously though, Enjoy your second new truck this year.... I'm jealous.

...and ordered a different 2017 F150. I was supposed to pick up my new 2017 F150 today with the 2.7L engine. But this morning I read this thread:
https://www.f150forum.com/f118/2-7-ecoboost-391622/
which talks about a TSB for the 2.7L. Basically, 2.7L engines built during 2016 could have an issue which requires new heads or a whole new engine. My 2017 has a build date of 9-1-16.
So I called the dealer and changed my order to another 2017 F150. Exact same model, color, and options, but has the rear electronic locking differential.
