Cancelled my 2017 F150 purchase thanks to this forum...
...and ordered a different 2017 F150. I was supposed to pick up my new 2017 F150 today with the 2.7L engine. But this morning I read this thread:
https://www.f150forum.com/f118/2-7-ecoboost-391622/
which talks about a TSB for the 2.7L. Basically, 2.7L engines built during 2016 could have an issue which requires new heads or a whole new engine. My 2017 has a build date of 9-1-16.
So I called the dealer and changed my order to another 2017 F150. Exact same model, color, and options, but has the rear electronic locking differential. I would have bought this one originally as the $470 extra for the locking diff is probably worth it for me, but this model was built 7-19-17 and has a $800 base price increase. So the locking diff is costing me $1270, but at least I get a truck 10 months newer and no worries about the TSB issue. I think I made the right choice as I tend to keep trucks up to 200k miles.

I'm guessing you have not seen the thread about the TSB for the 2.7 built between 7-18-17 and 7-20-17.. makes me not want to buy a 2.7 at all.

I'm only joking.
You will run yourself ragged trying to avoid TSB's. ha
I tend to just buy what I want and then buy a Ford ESP 7yr/125K warranty premium plan with zero deductible and same day rental. Whatever happens happens but I want be walking thats for sure, at least not for 7 years. Then I want a new truck anyways.
Seriously though, Enjoy your second new truck this year.... I'm jealous.

Yep... TSBs often get superseded to include more build dates.

...but ...if you wait a couple more months you can get a 2.7L with extra 25 fp.tq @ 700 rpm sooner + 10 speed tranny and both port and direct injection ;-)
Love my 2.7

FYI my truck is going back into service, literally, for the same issues that the repair made under the TSB was supposed to resolve. I've contacted Ford Corporate to expedite the repairs - but I've asked them if they would replace the entire engine...

I've been waiting years! Always something better if you just wait a little longer. The deals are too good now for end of the year 2017 models. Almost 25% off sticker with rebates!

Good to hear that my experience is helping you out! The TSB covers the 2.7 with production dates from April 1, 2016 through January 1, 2017.
