CAI
Define, "best." Cheapest? Best sound? Highest gains? Highest gain per dollar? Unfortunately, you're not going to get more than a couple of HP out of a CAI on your truck... but the flip side of that is your intake isn't restrictive and it didn't cost you a dime (other than what you just dropped on the truck!)
Congratulations on the purchase! The 5.0 is a great engine.

Save that money and just purchase two DRY AEM air filters.
The reason I say purchase two is so when you change your oil, change the air filter, and wash the other one so it`lll be ready to go at your next oil change.

These are life time filters that do not require oiling.
Well you could get the roush CAI here.
However for that kind of money, a custom tune would gain you substantially more in terms of performance and power. As others have said, the stock intake is already a true CAI and flows just as good or better than most available aftermarket options.

Don`t believe the marketing hype about CAI`s.

Why are the dry AEM supposed to be better? Is a there a marketing hype or actual flow bench results on an f150. Do they clean better? Yes they are washable, but 4 times the price of OEM. Ford recommends changing every 30,000 mi. So if you buy 4 OEM you are good for 120,000 miles plus the original 30,000... if you keep your vehicle that long. YMMV of course.
Thanks for replying to my posting.
I never said that the dry AEM filters were better than OEM nor did I quote any actual flow numbers to back up my suggestion for the AEM filter.
Since the original poster was thinking about a CAI, I merely suggested that he save the money on said CAI kit and just upgrade the filters.
There`s absolutely nothing wrong with changing the air filter after every oil change which if he does this every 3-4 thousand miles, and with the two AEM filters, he`ll actually spend less money than purchasing and changing said OEM Ford air filter.
All the best to you k.b. and have a good day.
OK, but there's no good reason to change your oil or air filters that often.......so their is something wrong with it......it's a waste of money and resources.
