Buyers Remorse...

Even if your dealer is willing to help you out, you'll still take a hit in the TTL. I would really evaluate if the 3.31 is truly an issue. If you can get by, then hold out and wait for a '16 and then take the depreciation hit.

I traded in a 15' F150 with 1300 miles on it after a month and a week. I bought a Lariat 3.5EB and went to a KR 5.0. I lost about 13% off MSRP on the trade. Fortunately for me I bought the Lariat at X Plan price which they didn't know and got the KR for slightly above invoice plus my $750 private cash offer came in an email. After it was all said and done I have a $40 increase in my payment after the extended warranty on the Lariat was deducted from the balance. Mathematically to me, it was a solid deal. I felt great, they felt great, I don't think either one of us got screwed but I also tried to stay realistic.
I will say this; it took some haggling. If you're not persistent it might not work to your favor. It's really not an issue of whether they'll take the truck back, it's a matter of how much you'll get for it if you do. I didn't go to the same dealership to trade. Fortunately in DFW, we have a ton of Ford dealerships with a lot of inventory. I was offered $40k from 3 different dealerships (MSRP was $55,280), $44k from one, and $46k from another. I was finally able to get two dealerships against each other (they share inventory), with that and stretching the truth on a few minor details I got something I was happy with.
I'm much happier with this truck, not an ounce of regret. Love everything about it except the FX4 stickers and incandescent fog lights- both replaced or removed.

As others have said now is the time to ask before you put anymore miles on it. Dealer inventory is very low and there are practically no rebates. A good dealer would work with you to help you out. They will make money selling you another truck and your trade. Win..Win for everyone.
Good luck…Hope it works out for you!

Same thing happened to me in 13. Bought a 12 f150 in silver. Brown interior.
I was excited for the first few days and then the color combo drained me. Felt sick about it. I called around and the dealer and lost about 1500 on the deal. But the peace of mind was worth it.
With the demand issue right now, I'd start with your dealer and then call all the other dealers around you. Someone will be happy to work it out with little pain. They get a hot truck to sell at a premium "used" price and empty their lot by one vehicle....
My bet is it won't be the bloodbath everyone thinks. Just a dozen or so paper cuts....

2 of here have traded our 2015s for a slightly different one. I traded mine with 500 miles on it. If you are going to do it do it now while the trucks are on fire. Once the lots fill up you will not to take the beating.

You act as if the F150 was unable to tow anything heavier than a john boat with a 9.9hp outboard or a 10' enclosed utility trailer until the almighty 3.5L "EgoBoost" came out.
Bologna.
And, for the record, I'm a current 3.5L EB owner.

I'm getting rid of a '12 F150 FX4 3.5L EB with the 5.5' bed and the 3.73 rear axle. I'm going into a '15 F150 Platinum 5.0L with the 6.5' bed and the 3.55 rear end. The 6.5' bed is SO much more useful - I want it so I can get my ATV in the back AND CLOSE THE TAILGATE. And once that baby has slight lift and bigger tires, it will tower over all OEM F150s and be more F250/350-ish.
If all you're towing is a bass boat and you don't anticipate REALLY steep angles, that 3.31 will be just fine. If it really bugs you, that is easily changed.
