Default Bumper removal question

Has anyone attempted to remove the lower bumper so that you can get to the foglight brackets in order to remove them. I ask because i would like to replace mine with some Rigid D2's and i took a look under neath and it looks like its gonna be some work. Didn't see anything on the threads unless i missed it, so sorry if this is a repeat question someone has asked.

From what I have read on here, 6 bolts hold the front bumper on. Two come out looking up from the bottom and the other 4 you have to pop off the plastic covers on each side of the front lisence plate to gain access to them.

Timely post. I want to add tow hooks to my 4x2 and needed the same info. Anyone have pics of how to remove the plastic insert(s)? Perhaps pics of where the tabs or whatever hold it on?

Try sticking a flat putty knife covered in duct tape for scratching and gently pry the covers to see where they are exactly attached. They move a little with your fingers.

I'll give it a shot this weekend if I have time. I know I'll have to cut the lower valence or buy a 4x4 one.

OK, I cab pry off the cover. It takes a fair effort.

Be advised that you will loose or damage some of the clips. I've lost two. I'll have to get some more from Ford once I figure out what they are called or what their part number is. Probably cost $5 each or something ridiculous.

I did, indeed, find two bumper bolts under there for each side.

I added hooks to my 4X2 Platinum. First of all you need more than just the hooks. The lower valance is different and the hooks do not come with the covers that go around the hooks.
The Covers are FL3Z-9901927-AA and FL3Z-9901926-AA if you have a Platinum.
The lower panel (Valance) that has the holes for the hooks is FL3Z-17626-BA
The bumper must be removed to install the hooks and covers.
The plastic insert pries off and is one piece including the license plate frame. there are quite a few metal clips holding it to the bumper. Be very careful the clips break very easy. I used a plastic trim tool to pop them out. if the clip stays in the bumper you will have to reinstall it on the plastic insert. Be careful bending the points on the inside of the clip back in. If you have adaptive cruise/collision avoidance the radar unit is behind the left (Drivers Side) panel. You will have to remove it to get to the bumper bolts. I think there are three bolts two go in from the front and one from the back of the bumper. Make sure you remove the fog light bulbs. The rubber piece on top of the bumper is held on with 2 push pin type fasteners.
This is on a Platinum, you model may vary.

Thanks. Any chance you know the part number of those little clips? They are easy to loose, bend and throw across the room because they bit your finger.
