Default Bully Hitch Step

Ole lady gave me one of these for my birthday yesterday. My question is if I plug this in to use the LED lights will it tell me I have a trailer attached? It's a 4 pin flat connector.https://www.realtruck.com/bully-hitc...018Y212MA.html

Don’t plug it in and just use it as a step.

That could be one option but would really like to see it work. If it ever stops raining I'll install it and see what I get.

Only other option is to hard wire it to your brake light on the left or right side of the truck and you shouldn't get the trailer connected alarm. Could likely rig up something using both a male and female 4-pin flat connector but wire to the brake light, and still make it functionable and be able to unhook it, if you ever need to remove the hitch step. Correct me if I'm wrong here guys?

I have it installed but not hooked up yet. Bully doesn't provide enough of a pigtail to plug in and somewhat hide the wiring. I ordered a 2' extension from ebay which showed up today. Going to try it Saturday.

Just an update and a heads up for those that buy one of these. First of all the pigtail supplied is very short. Second the 4 pin connector would not plug in to the 4 pin receiver on the truck or the 2 ft extension I bought. I bought a pigtail I knew would fit and soldered it on to the supplied pigtail. BTW when I did get it plugged in and started the truck it did not inform me that I had a trailer attached which was the original question. Included a picture to show the difference in the 4 pin connectors.

That's funny. I was sure you get the trailer connected chime on the dash whether it was the flat 4-pin or the 7-pin connectors.

I did this morning after driving it for the first time. Also getting left bulb fault when I use right flasher and right bulb fault when I use left flasher.....interesting. Not sure if that can be disabled easily.
