Bug shield consideration
The dealership, where I bought my truck, has AVS Aeroskin bug shields available. (Haven't checked on the price yet).
I like the way the display shows it fitting flat. I am considering getting it match painted to the truck.
Anyone have one of these?? Ever painted one?? Looking for opinions.
Thanx, in advance.

Find a good Clear Bra dealer and have then cover the front of the hood same as the bug shield only go all the way across, not just the hood but the front of the fenders also. No need to paint match.

I have seen people who have painted them and I have seen others who have just bought clear. I think it depends a lot on the color of your truck.
Since I had an XLT I went this route because it matched my lower grill perfectly. I took a magic eraser to the AVS symbol and it almost looks factory.

This is just my opinion based on managing a fleet of over 200 late model (2015 or newer) F-series trucks...
The AVS hood deflectors are great looking and do provide excellent protection. However consider this - and this is why we chose not to install this type of hood deflector. All hood deflectors deteriorate over time, become damaged/scratched from road debris, fade etc. and require replacement. The same is true of the AVS hood deflector. Now it comes time to replace the AVS hood deflector. Can it be removed? Sure it can. But over the life of the vehicle, how many times can you peel off the AVS hood deflector without some sort of adverse affect to the paint. Regardless of what some may say, I have personally seen 3 AVS hood deflectors that when removed, the same 3M tape that does such a fantastic job adhering to the paint, also removed paint from the hood. We no longer purchase the AVS hood deflectors.
We install the OEM hood deflector. Does it look as sleek and aerodynamic as the AVS hood deflector - no it doesn't. The same feature that makes the OEM hood deflector not look as sleek as the AVS hood deflector also lends itself to being easy to replace (5 minutes or less) without any damage to the paint - no matter now many times you remove it for paint maintenance (cleaning, polishing, waxing, etc.) or replace with new.
Ask yourself how many times am I going to remove or replace the hood deflector based on damage and wear & tear or for maintenance of the paint and then make an informed decision.
Choose wisely.

I bought this directly from the Ford dealer. It's an AVS deflector/OEM and I've had it on for close to a year and a half now without issue.
