AVS bug shield 2 will not work or I am complete **** tard.......
2019 I have tried many times ... went to the hardware store and bought new rubber mounts and screws.....too fat
The screws that came with kit, just pull out.
So tell me what is a good buy?
Brother-in-law has the AVS Aeroskin II on his 2020. Looks good. Didn't mention any problems with it but it only goes to the edges of the hood, doesn't cover the fender edges.
I tried the Weathertech shield, it's like the bolt on AVS, and I had the same problem. The fasteners wouldn't go into the hood holes. They sent me new, supposedly "upgraded" ones and they wouldn't work either. I cut the shield up and went to the Aeroskin II. It's very nice, fairly easy to install IF you follow the instructions. It's been on my new F150 for 2 weeks and so far no worries. I got it on Amazon for 77 bucks and change.
I've had a couple different models on different vehicles and have always had trouble with the crappy "push-pin" or plastic screws.
My remedy, besides drilling the hood and using metal screws, is to go to the hardware store and get the plug-type drywall anchors that fit the factory holes and use the provided screws.
Besides the two clips on the ends, that's what's holding my Stampede guard in place...rock-solid so far.
I too have the Stampede shields. I have a chrome looking one on our 2008 Sport trac, and had 2 clear Stampede shields painted to match our 2 King Ranch F-150's.
