Angry Broken Shock Frame Mount

Well this is a new one for me. I have a broken Left Rear Shock Frame Mount, Sheared off the frame completely. Then I find out this is not a part available by Ford, Their solution is to replace the rear complete frame on the truck, and even better yet thet tell me the warranty does not cover this. Even though I made the point a broken frame is a structual issue. Might as well talk to the wall than to Ford. My point to them is the shock should be the weak point, not the frame.

Has anyone had this happen and if so what did they do to fix.

How much weight was the truck supporting when the failure occurred? Were you exceeding payload or the RGAWR?

Truck has never been near it max payload. The heaviest thing is towing my TT (8500lbs with a 825lbs tonque weight). Truck only had me in it when it broke and has not towed the trailer since 2019 (thanks to COVID). This is not a case of over using a truck.

If I were the dealer and trying to avoid warranty I'd be blaming the RS9000 shocks. Those things can be stiff when cranked down, but it would still be a BS answer. I'm assuming the fracture is from fatigue and not impact?
Any reason you can't just weld it up?

Places I have approach to weld it back on have refused to do it claiming the heat will weaken the thin frame material and they don't want the liability

They’re right about weakening the frame. The heat from the welder can cancel out the heat treatments that give the frame desirable properties.

To me it looks like the factory weld let go and the second factory weld then tristed and broke off completely.

These frames are not heat treated and are absolutely repairable for any good shop. Anyone that knows how to weld can easily fix this.

This has to be a warranty issue. Theres no way what you described should have done that. Assuming you've tried to go to corporate already. if you were so inclined you could get a material expert to examine it and see if it was defective from the factory and if you can get that in writing, take them to court. It will be a long brutal process but I bet with that you would win.

Ya sounds good but I have to get the truck ready for the summer and ready to tow. Not Towing with only 1 shock waiting. Might just put on a Fox Shock Kit on it, expensive but cheaper than a frame replacement
