Default Broken keypad

I took my truck in for service on thursday night, oil change and recall for the carpet shielding and insulation rework. I got my truck back Friday and parked it in the garage all weekend. Yesterday on my way to work ( driving at highway speeds) I noticed some wind noise that was never there before. I did some inspecting today and found that the keypad wasn’t sitting right. It was popped out. Sure enough the top clip was broken on it as well as where it clips onto. The window trim looks fine. I would think it would have been scratched up if someone had tried to break into it while it sat overnight at the dealer. I was just wondering if there is any reason why a service tech would try to remove it? Or any other ideas how this might have happened? I plan on calling the dealer first this tomorrow

I have the same issue. It only pops out at highway speeds and I just push it back on. I was thinking about getting some double sided tape and see if that works. My bottom clip is good but my top is broken It appears fairly difficult to replace. I think you have to remove that whole pillar to replace.

No reason for the tech to remove it for the work you had done, the timing is just a coincidence.

That happened to mine too. I actually just used a little bit of black RTV silicone around the edge to sort of glue it back on. Just a little so it didn’t squish out and be visible. Worked great, it’s held for a couple years now.

Mine was replaced under warranty. Heard some wind noise one day and looked around to see where it was coming from and found a loose keypad. Looks like when looking up the part the top pin to secure it falls out or breaks. Called the Ford dealer about issue made a appointment, secured it with double face tape and had it changed out and had the oil changed. All good now and no need to reinstall personal PIN.

Default Security Pad

Interesting to find the comments as I too took my 2016 F150 in for some warranty (block heater cord) and the next day I notice the security pad is popped out on the top. Looks as if clip is missing or, if plastic, broken. No car wash or anything that would give me reason it is broken but find it an interesting coincidence.

So, I was passing by a dealer in the Twin Cities area and they said $62 for the part. Went to a rural dealer and bought the part for $32. Installation was relatively easy if you have some trim tools and some patience. The hardest part was removing one of the cable retainers as you need small hands (which I do not have). I cut the wires to the pad so I could pull the cable out via inside the door. I have to say it would appear that perhaps the cable assembly was installed as the door was built because it went down the smaller of the two channels as seen from where the keypad is mounted. There is no way the connector would fit down the channel the cable went. I used a small plumbing snake down the hole, tied a string to it and pulled it back up. I used that string to feed/pull the connector end into the larger of the two channels (toward inside surface of door, see photo of old cable/pad with cable going down channel towards outer surface of door). Note: When I compared the old assembly to the new one a different retainer was used in the position closer to the keypad and I don't see how it was to work as it was a much different type and seemingly unsuited for the mounting hole and it was off by a couple inches from where it was located on the old cable (see photo) so I simply removed it.

Everything went pretty good from then on. I checked in the bottom of the door insides for the part that would have broken off the old one to find it wasn't present. Since I had driven the truck 600+ miles after noting the keypad was broken/demounted I would have assumed it would have shaken down to the bottom. Perhaps it is still hung up some where inside the door or ????

I'm really having concerns about my local dealer. This started as a brake job and suddenly it is a pinon seal and front shocks. I had just had it in a few weeks prior for The Works...I thought they were supposed to do a little inspections with that...can't imagine this all popped up in a couple weeks so I'll be going to the one where I bought the recent part.
