Brighter reverse lights
Looking for some better reverse lights, maybe a kit even. I see diode dynamics has a kit for $350, I am not looking to spend that much though, I'd rather be closer to $100
I've been running one of these for about 3 years and it's excellent. Plug and play white wide-angle flood light, much brighter than reverse lights, glows red with tail lights, easy to remove and replace if you tow. 3 minute installation. https://www.diodedynamics.com/hitchm...ord-f-150.html
It has been awhile since replaced the 7440 incandescent bulbs with LED. Be aware that more diodes aren't better as the light gets too scattered, diffuse and really just useless. It would probably cost half your budget and much simpler going that route.

VLEDs is another high quality license plate type reverse light. I have one on the 150, and one on my 2004 Ranger. A bit more that the Morimoto, which is a good one too.

What do you want to gain exactly?
General light for backing up or something more specific?
Probably goes without saying it's all LED.
- Brighter bulbs
- Light bar (license plate)
- Hitch light
- Light pods
I definitely needed more light for reversing in the boonies that would allow the back up camera to work well. Wasn't confident brighter bulbs would work since the tail light assembly has such a small reverse light portion. I also didn't want to start drilling holes and bolting parts on. Wanted a retrofit option if possible.
So I added a license plate light (VLEDS LPX reverse, running/parking, brake) the reverse light is 2,000 lumens and the running/parking is 3 LEDS so it's a bit sporty, and I wanted added brake lighting for safety...so this serves several functions.
My other consideration that I still may get is a Diode Dynamics Hitch reverse light also with running/parking, flashing brake, and the reverse light is 1,000 lumens.
I don't have much experience with the LPX it yet because I installed it in July and doesn't get dark till almost 10pm haha but it definitely accomplishes the goal of making the reverse camera completely functional.
