Default Breaking the trade in cycle...

Just spent 2k on tires, brakes, and professional detail to fight the urge to trade in! I’m a serial every 2-3 year trade in addict. I’m at about 27 months. It feels like I have a new truck but still have a wondering eye!

So I’m posting as therapy in hopes I can fight the urge! Haha

2015 King Ranch 35k miles.

Happy Friday!

If mine makes it 5 years with no major issues, I'll be happy. I should have around 200k on mine by then. Doesn't sound like taking a hit on trade in value bother you much if you swap trucks that often. I'd suggest swapping front ends to the 2018 if it appeals to you and you're happy with the truck you currently have. That way it'll look like a new truck and won't cost the price of a new truck.

It's 20% off the lot and 30% by the end of the first year. He is taking a beating.

I’m usually eyeing my next vehicle around a year of ownership and then usually trade in around the three year mark. I absolutely love this truck and the only thing I’ve been eyeing the past year is upgrades. I think I found “the one.” Lol

I agree with the previous post, drive'em till they die. Here's a pic of my 05, it really was a great truck, I bought it for essentially 20 grand with 19k miles on it, paid it off in 2 yrs (1/2 the time) and spent the next 9-10 years driving a great truck with no payments and relatively no real problems. At 165000 miles it lost it's phasers and I just figured what the hell, trade up. I'm going to do it all over again with my new/used 2015 !! I've learned with this new truck though that there are additional expenses involved like purchasing a new shell there's $1800, gotta have it leveled there's $150 for spacers, little higher in the back? there goes another $200, larger E rated all terrains? I would need new tires eventually anyway so that doesn't count although the E rated tires will be approx 25% more. In the construction trade I will put 2000 lbs in the bed quite often so yep remote controlled air bags, there's $700. Yep, it's safe to say I'll be married to this truck till the year 2030 or so. I'll be buying used again so the 2028 F-150 FX4 had better be one Hell of a good truck. New trucks are great, but quite expensive for me anyway. Good Luck to ya PAKINGRANCH13.

I tend to keep my trucks for a long time. I owned an Avalanche for 14 years prior to purchase of the F-150. I owned a Sonoma for 8-1/2 years prior to that. As long as they aren't nickel and diming me, I generally don't see a reason to spend the money just for something new.

Longest I've made it is 2 years 3 months. Those that say lose the shirt need to learn how to buy low, sell high
lost 10% off my 16 purchase price in 18 months.
Worst beating I ever took was a 2005 Tahoe..40% in 6 months, worth it though, intermittent total brake failure they could never find

I’m a 3-4 year guy. In my younger days, more like 1-2 years. I blame my dad. He owned a small, Buick, Pontiac, GMC truck dealership growing up. Needless to say, he always drove a new vehicle. That said, if I ever want to go from semi, to full retirement, this one has to last a long time. Luckily, I put less than 8k miles yearly.
