Default Break in

So I've been reading about the break in for 2016 f150 2.7. What is your experience with how long it takes Break in. Right now I've got about 330 miles on my vehicle and I'm getting about 14mpg mostly highway. So I'm assuming after 1000+ more miles I see more of the window sticker numbers between 18-23? This is my first new vehicle and a truck as well so I was kinda getting worried when I'm only getting 14 instead of at least the min of 18. I drive like I got sense and most of the time on the highway I do go about 78 on cruise control.

Gears? Not that it makes that much difference.

Personally, I didn't notice much difference after "break in" regarding mpg's.

To get the window sticker hwy mileage you're going to have to go closer to 55.

Hate to say it but there is no significant break in. Mileage you get off lot has always been mileage later in my f150s life. 2.7 no different.

You could check to see if brakes are dragging, etc. I have had calipers stick even on a new vehicle.

Otherwise, are you confident you are driving it easy? I understand a turbo engine behaves like twice its displacement when under boost. Why we have so much power but with it comes fuel use. If you are driving gentle-i got nothing else....

Recommedned: No towing for the first 1000 miles. Also, avoid punching it for the first 1000 miles. Also vary your driving speed (no cruise) for the first 1000 miles.

After that, go nuts.

Yeah I don't think I could drive any slower off the gate without getting he finger. I am driving close to 80mph maybe I'll just go the actually speed limit to 70 I'm sure that will help a little bit. But I mean when the window sticker says 18min and I'm only getting 14 that's a little fightninimg. I mean I wanna put a lift and big tires on it too but if I do that I'm prob looking at 10mpg. I'm getting a tuner so hopefully that helps.

Oh another MPG thread. Sorry I should have read the OP. Your best bet, trade in your truck for a Fiesta. Guaranteed MPG boost.

Lmfao. I traded in a civic in for the truck I ain't going back. I'm not really worried I don't mind paying for gas just wanna make sure I'm doing everything possible to save me a few $ in gas. As well as my truck is running fine when I'm getting 4mpg then the window sticker

While most will disagree with me, during the first 1000 miles or so I noticed about 15/16 miles per gallon. After that first 2 months or so I started slowly increasing in the MPG area and am sitting at about 21 on the computer (19.89 by hand) now with almost 6000 miles on the truck.

While I don't think there is a "break-in" period I do believe that the truck takes a little longer to 'learn' trims, gas octane, environment, your driving style before you start getting the best MPGs.
