Default Brake Controller - Trailer Disconnected

I installed the Ford factory brake controller on my '18 and my in laws '17, turned them both on via Forscan. In-laws works perfectly. On mine I keep getting notifications that the trailer is disconnected. Everything is working on the trailer - lights, signals, and brakes. When I squeeze the anti-sway the trailer brakes lock up and I can notice the +/- in gain. However, anytime I squeeze or adjust the +/- I get the "trailer disconnected" notification. Turn signal flashes extended and reverse sensors auto off with the trailer hooked up but still getting the message.

Brand new hitch/ball and using the 7 pin. I've hooked up the same trailer to both trucks and his works, mine says disconnected. Also towed a completely different trailer with mine and had the same disconnected notification.

Anything I should try or fix?

Did you setup the trailer in the truck's menu?

Is the plug on the truck clean of corrosion?

Have you checked the ground wire located next to the spare tire?

Trailer is setup / plug is clean, I always keep dielectric on em, all wires appear to be good. I un-clipped the harness and reinstalled but no luck.

Tried everything again today - still the same. Truck even notified me that the trailer brake light was out (wasn't yesterday).

Thanks for the info! I was planning on calling the dealer Monday but now I'll actually have an idea for them and maybe get it in this week before I do a 20 hour tow. If they can't get it done I'm sure I can find that part and do it myself, pry for cheaper. Truck is out of bumper-2-bumper warranty.

*Edit - I checked my build date and it is 5/22/18 so technically not covered by that TSB. Could still be the fix but out of date.

I have 47,000 miles on my truck. I checked with 2 dealers and mentioned this TSB and they both said it's not for this problem. The TSB is randomly getting that message when no trailer is connected, not like my issue for when the trailer is connected.

Usually this is caused by bad earth if everything else is otherwise working.
