Brake Controller Installation
As a result we have very few customer complaints because any unresolved issues have been corrected prior to delivery.
We have excellent results on our customer surveys (Overall Customer Satisfaction, Repurchase, Recommend Dealership to Others, etc.)
Thanks for this info. Going back to the part numbers for the expedition and f150 appear to be the same. Do we also have to unprogram the expedition if we remove the controller?
Keep in mind, even if the part numbers for the TBCM (Trailer Brake Control Module) are the same between both vehicles, the F150 will need to have the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) enabled for the TBCM to function. This will need to be done by the dealer using IDS or Forescan software will also enable this feature.
If the dealer enables the IPC for you, make sure they follow the 2016 procedure - not the 2015 procedure as it has been revised for the 2016 vehicles that have Pro Trailer Backup Assist - See SSM 45574. Many dealers don't take the time to read this SSM and when the vehicle leaves the TBCM doesn't work.
For your convenience I have included a copy of those revised instructions which include SSM 45574

Our dealership has what we call a "Zero Defects" inspection post repairs being completed. This inspection is performed by someone other than the tech that performed the repair. This gives the dealership the opportunity to have another set of eyes validate that all repairs have been performed correctly and the entire scope of work that was approved by the customer has actually been communicated to the tech and performed.

I would think yes but don't know for sure. You might try disconnecting the controller and see if any messages come up.
Yes you will need to "Disable" the IPC TBCM setting on the Expedition with either IDS or Forescan. A DTC will be set if you don't Disable the setting in the IPC.
In the long run it probably isn't worth the effort just to save a few $$$s. Just purchase a new TBCM for the F150.

PM sent to jd50i per the GL part number vs the FL# and my post yesterday in the other brake module thread.
In the FWIW area, I bought a new RV trailer last week in VA and my dealer there has this same truck and his dealer broke his dash plastic doing his brake module installation. And they (at first) claimed he'd done it himself to which he told them, no you did it! Beware it must be fairly easy to damage the surrounds. He said they broke the piece goes around the air vent.

I removed one 7mm bolt on driver side of console by gas pedal. The removed that peice on the side. Then popped the top off the center console. Next popped up the center tray on top of the dash to expose two 7mm bolts for the radio bezel. Next pop out the radio bezel. Then there is a small trim at the bottom of where the bezel was. Remove two 7 mm bolts from that. Then you can pop out the air duct trim.
The air duct trim has tabs on the sides that are behind all the other trim peices.
