I changed my H6 to H7 over a year ago.
I did some sort of "reset" with buttons/brake/lights but don't remember and have no idea if I did it correctly or if that did anything.
I will check what FORScan shows tonight... and if I need to change it.
I'll post here if I figure anything out that may be helpful.

As I understand it (I'm soon to do mine), it lets the charging system charge battery to level appropriate for the size. Batteries and charging are very complex now days. If you do just throw in H8, it still will be added value, just will never charge to it's full agm state.I bought the dongle and plan to use Forscan when I do it, and simply reset the bms as well.

Just to add;
a larger Battery only adds to Cell size and capacity such as RC rating and AH rating and a small increase in CC & CCA capacity depending on design and who produced it.
This only allows the larger Battery to offer power a bit >longer in time< and not solve a real issue that may exist, such as a Drain fault, repeated or short drive cycles.
In addition, it takes longer to recover a larger Battery. ( Reverse internal Chemical action on larger Cells.)
To improve re-charge rate/time, the BMS would have to be set up to charge as a bit higher in Amps.
Good luck.

I checked FORScan BMC 726-04-01 and the first 2 digits are "02" for the H7 battery, which is what I have now.

July 2023 I replaced the original factory H6 battery with the H7, and did some form of battery "reset" (not FORScan) turning things on/off/pressing stuff. I've never used FORScan until 2 months ago.
I don't know if the battery setting in FORScan was for an H7 originally, but that seems unlikely. It seems to me whatever the battery reset procedure I did recognized the H7 battery and set the FORScan code to the correct number.

The battery reset procedure was something I googled a half dozen times.

Also, there seems to be a discrepancy on the CCA for the H7 battery and the trucks battery setting:
"H6" CCA 760 - FORScan "01" CCA 760
"H7" CCA 850 - FORScan "02" CCA 800
