I said it was unusual certainly not impossible. Just saying 7k a year is fairly low mileage for most vehicles IMO.

In any event I'd love to know what really caused this motor to grenade...

2011-2016 have a very slight tendency to throw a rod. if it happens its usually under 30k miles. usually people are running a tune.

then the debate begins as to whether the tune caused the engine failure. ALL tuners have had engines blow.

Thanks for the reply. I plan on keeping it stock and hope it lives a long time. I do mostly highway driving with it.

And then how many tuners blame the tune they did?

Dunno, seems like some tuners have a reputation for being fast...and windowing blocks. No real surprise that they would blame a factory issue.

Kinda of curious where you seem to get your numbers, you seem to down play everything with your numbers. Or do you tell yourself whatever you need to hear to be able to sleep at night?

There is no known issue. Has it happened?? Of course. Just like every other motor on the planet has had a malfunction. There is no such thing as a perfect motor, one that is built by man that doesn't have an issue at some point doesn't exist.

If 350 of them blew in 2015 that means around 0.1% That's One tenth of 1%

I haven't seen any numbers that prove anything one way or the other.

Truth is you won't ever get to see those numbers. Most companies don't publish that kind of information because it would hurt the companies stock if it got out. Now they will publish safety related recall costs. But you'll never get the sensitive information about engine and other high dollar items.

Interested in the outcome.
I'm pretty sure the op was 100 stock, good thing, at least they can't blame the windowed block on that.
