Blown Ecoboost at 21k miles!

Truck went into Ford Saturday with a hole in the passenger side of the block. Went to get on it to get into a lane before mine ended, and heard a bang, then truck starting shaking like crazy and white smoke was billowing from engine compartment and exhaust. Pulled off the road and popped the hood to see the back firewall on fire. Put that out and disconnected the neg battery cable in case it was anything electrical involved. Oil everywhere. Once I got up under the truck I found metal shards all over the skid plate and eventually found a rod hanging out of the rear most passenger side of the block. Really sucks for only having 21k miles on the truck. 2015 crew cab with the 3.5 Ecoboost. Hopefully it's not down for too long I am moving in 3 weeks. What is the warranty like on replacement motors from Ford? Truck is under bumper to bumper still

Did you have a custom tune on it or was it stock?

Probably because he has no engine to install downpipes and SPD adapters anymore.

Known connecting rod issues. They decide to knock a window in the side of the block for a better view of the outside world. One of the famous eco boost tuners had an article posted on his site talking about this. He said untuned or tuned the eco boost was known for that issue.

Trying to hide the reason that his motor blowing was caused by his aftermarket modifications.

So this wasn’t a stock EB motor?

Cha Ching $$$$$$
As long as you didnt modify or tune the engine Ford should cover it 100%

^^^^ add after you [or any one else]

I'm a firm believer in the dealer just being lazy if you say its tuned or modified in any way. I had a phase 4 performance pack from stage 3 on mine when I took it in for an engine knock. ford still covered the entire motor and new turbos 100%.
