Yes, I have Sylvania LED’s in my meant-for-incandescent housings. I slightly aimed them down and they’ve been in there for two years. Never had an on coming car flash me.

I’ve even used her Subaru and had her drive the truck so I could could simulate being the oncoming driver. The lights were no brighter than anything else I see on the road driving her car and I didn’t considering them blinding by any means.

For me, I can actually see at night with the Sylvania LEDs and I could not prior.
one thing about LED, they have a distinct cut off, so when the light ends, it ends. Halogens still produce a lot of scatter, it’s just not blinding scatter.

I do well with my Morimoto XB and DD SS3 Pro fogs

Yep. That light sure does end haha. Looks great on all the cut off shot pictures, but for my eyes I do not like it.

That coupled with her cars auto high beams, they switch back to lows with just about any sign reflection.

Driving on hilly winding roads is annoying. I do prefer the headlights in my truck over her OEM projectors to be honest.

550 out the door is an insane good deal for how much better they are over the stock crappy halogens.

unless you buy top of the line expensive led bulbs to put in your stock halogen housings, you typically blind people and the light scatters with no real cutoff in the beam pattern.
Morimoto hybrid r look great, but light output is complete and utter trash. I have a pair of them in my storage room that I couldnt return. I refuse to use them because the output was so bad I felt unsafe driving to work. They were on the truck for a day or two.

weren’t yours the ones that were like 2 different colors? Did Morimoto not take them back and or even replace them?

either way, I’d get the XB or XB hybrid

Does not matter. The point is that the OP is looking to remedy it rather than sticking their head in the ground.

Default Blinding LED Headlights

Check out the Youtube videos for Headlight Revolution. They have done all the work.

they were the same, then one of the LEDs went out and that light gave a blue looking output vs white on the other. I contacted Morimoto and got a replacement, but the vendor I bought them from would not take them back because they had been in the truck for a day or two. It turned into a whole argument over their very poorly written return policy, but in the end I’m out nearly $700 with a huge box taking up tons of room in an already crowded storage room.

I have zero experience with the XB or XB Hybrid, only the hybrid R. There are all kind of lines and streaks in the output, and at freeway speeds, I was basically driving blind. There are dark spots that don’t come through very well in the pictures. The response from Morimoto was that the lines and streaks are “normal and in all LED reflectors”. Which is 100% not true. No OEM vehicle manufacturer would put LED reflector headlights on a vehicle if the light output was streaky and shadowy. My wife has a Murano with OEM LED reflectors and the output is 100% useable light vs these. For reference, my fog lights were not on in the photos below except the one against the wall (second to last). I wish I had that picture without them but I didn’t get one.

I remember reading that thread.

Yeah, the "R" version uses a reflector housing, where as the XB Hybrid uses actual LED projectors, and a halogen turn signal.

I think you’d be pretty happy with the XB or hybrid but I understand not rolling the dice again.

why not sell them? I know you don’t want to hose anyone but be honest and let them decide.

or

do what I had to do, go write a bad review (an honest one) on morimotos Facebook and they’ll contact you. I had a crappy ordeal with them and long story short, customer service told me I was wrong, wrote a review on facebook, someone reached out and made it right.

I was sold a harness that was too short, they didn’t even want to look at it. A year later, I bought the same harness again and it magically fit this time, lol.

Man I had no idea that the R model uses reflector housings, otherwise I would have never recommended them. I have the regular hybrids with morimoto fogs and the light output is great. I also opted for the gtr turn signal bulbs and no complaints from them either.

I wish I wasn’t a cheap *** and had opted for the full xb headlights. A friend has them on his 2018 and I get jealous every time I see them
