I apologize if I missed this from an earlier post, AZ High Country, but would like to know how many miles were on the old shocks on your F150?? Oh, and do you have the HDPP package??

No, I do not have the HDPP package on mine.

when I had my super duty, I had to crawl up it, or fly up it to float over the holes!

I'm going to tackle the front strut install job by myself, or with a buddy possibly in his heated garage. I've read conflicting reports on the swapping of the OEM spring from stock strut to the Bilstein 5100. Is it possible to do it with the MacPherson style spring compressors you can rent from an auto parts store?

If you are looking for confirmation of a difference in the HDPP I can chime in. I don't think the HDPP with the 157" wheelbase is as plagued as the non HDPP with the bounce and wheel hop. I drove quite a few Scab 6.5' bed trucks as that is what I first wanted. The first I drove an HDPP is when mine was delivered to the dealer. The ride is more firm but not bad, about what you would expect from a stiff suspension truck but not a 3/4 ton truck ride. I did note that choppy, washboard or broken / uneven pavement especially came through in the rear. Towing my TT on secondary roads was where the OEM shocks fall short. The dips and rises seemed to be exaggerated bouncing the rear of the truck. Since I had the 5100s I put them on when I installed the well liners. It made a difference in daily driving as well as towing. The chops are smoothed over, barely there. The towing bounce is not as exaggerated but I believe I need to do more with my WDH to move some weight to the hitch. The difference wasn't that pronounced as some here say, I could have lived with the OEM but the rear 5100s are better. In fact since I put the rears on, I have become more mindful of how the front reacts. I have a set for there as well and I'm going to get them installed soon. If I go up one level setting I think it would help get my trailer closer to level when towing.

Technically, traditional shocks are never adjustable in height. The fronts are coil overs, so the spring mount can be raised up, thus lifting the front end. You have to work with the leaf springs or airbags to affect the rear ride height.
