Bilstein 5100s installed - WOW!

Another testimonial to upgrading the shocks on these trucks.

Yesterday, I installed a set of 5100s on the rear of my truck and all I can say is wow! What a difference is has made. My truck no longer has an "after-bounce" when going over bumps. I feel the initial bump and then the suspension calms down immediately. Rear end also no longer kicks out as it did before. It feels like a different truck now. And, for some reason, it has also lessened the driveline vibration I've had all along. I wasn't expecting that!

When I pulled the factory shocks off, the were damp looking and I think maybe we're leaking from the looks of it.

This has made me realize just how crappy the stock shocks are. It's truly "shocking". And my FX4 supposedly has "upgraded" shocks... yeah right!

Now I can't help wonder what replacing the fronts would do. That is not a job I'd feel comfortable doing myself however which is why I didn't bother.

I can absolutely recommend to anyone to at least upgrade the rear shocks. The improvement is huge and it only took me about 30 minutes to do. Time and money well spent!

It's too bad Ford doesn't offer truly good shocks from the factory, even as an option. They could probably negotiate a killer deal with Fox or Bilstein to buy in quantity.

Which bills, the soft or firm?

Yup. It's a great shock. Good value too. Made a huge difference. The truck still bounces (not too much) more than all my other trucks but probably due to the aluminum body. I could live with that.

I might have been thinking about the springs actually. I bought Old Man Emu springs and i think there was a soft/firm option

Ordered a set of 4600's from the same place at $110.00 each. Got the 5100's instead for the same price as the 4600. Great price and quality product. I also bought some lottery tickets.

Yeah, they are great to deal with. Warren answered my emails almost immediately and was very helpful. It was hilarious when I opened the box, there were a couple of Dubble Bubble gums thrown in. LOL.

Mine as well. When I called to let them know of the mistake was thinking they may want them sent back and they would send out the proper ones. But the guy I was dealing with just verified I had the correct ones and said they were mine. Great to deal with couldn't agree with you more.

I just installed the same on my truck front and back, feels like it should have from the factory.

I am surprised ford didn't figure something out on these trucks. the difference in handling and ride compared to the previous generation is astounding.
