Best Cell Phone holder for the F150
#361
What are you using for a cell phone holder?
I bought a cell phone holder that clips on to a vent. It holds the phone ok but it totally blocks the vent. I don’t see any non textured place to use a suction cup other than the windshield. And I’d rather avoid using the windshield if possible.
So what are you using to hold your phone?

You can almost literally toss the phone from a short distance & hit it.
Mine is just to the left of the vent, just behind the right side of the steering wheel.
It includes a metal plate that adheres to the back of your phone.

X2 I’ve been using the WeatherTech Cup Fone https://www.weathertech.com/weathert...pfone/cupfone/.
Downside you lose a cup holder spot, but I got it as a Christmas gift.
I want to go with the built right industry dash mount and setup with Ram mounts https://www.builtrightind.com/produc...015-ford-f-150
I’m hesitant because it looks like the phone mount will block some of the ac vent.

I had a phone mount from my last truck and for now, this is working. With android auto working, i am seeing less need for the radio while driving. might start to store in the front spot.

I looked everywhere and bought one from Amazon but eventually went with the Proclip center mount for my F150 from the first post by the OP on this thread .( that first post on this thread was over 5 years old and I think still the best LOL.) The one from Amazon was cheaper but not as good so I moved it to the family car. The pro clip for the F150 was probably the most expensive but it was the best for what I wanted.
I feel it will last the longest by far, saved the cup holder for a cup, did not require any drilling, does not block an AC vent, and is a very solid mount. I also prefer the phone at about the 2 pm next to the steering wheel. This allows me the ability to look at the phone while keeping my eyes on the road. It is well worth the money even if one of the most expensive options. It matches the dash perfectly— just blends in to the dash like it’s OEM.

I have one that fits in the cup holder. Similar to the Weather Tec ones.
Pluses: Doesn't block a vent and isn't on the windshield. Stands up well to the heavy Iphone plus with a wallet style leather case. Convenient to hand, don't have to reach out to the windshield etc.
Cons: Takes up a cupholder but I drive alone 99% of the time. If using a map its not right up in the windshield for like a "heads up" display. I think if I was using the gps function a lot I'd get one that was dash or windshield mounted.
