Default Bed Liner?

Really knew to getting/owning a truck.
But when I order one should I order the factory bedliner? Spray in or the drop in? My dealer was talking about Linex?

What happens to the bed if I dont order anything. Will it just rust away pretty quickly?

Thanks guys!

The Ford bedliner looks nice but you can probably do better locally. Line-X will probably be more expensive depending on which Line-X product you choose.

Personally I'd skip both of the liners from the factory and decide once you get it. Nothing will happen to the bed from the time you get the truck to the time you get the bedliner done unless you really abuse the hell out of it.

The guy at the dealership said "Line-X durability is excellent, cleaner look and actually has a bit of a grip to it so helps from items sliding in the box"

Is it a rubberized material? or plastic?

I went with the factory spray and a aftermarket bedmat.

First, I wouldn't worry about your bed rusting.

Regarding factory vs Line-x: My first truck had Line-x which is a excellent product backed with a lifetime warranty. This time, since I placed a special order, I choose the factory spray-in which I'm as satisfied as the Line-x. Maybe it's a little less rugged than the Line-x and I insist on the "maybe". I like the Ford logo that comes with the factory one and I also like the fact that my truck doesn't have to go the shop to get worked on. My tailgate got chipped on the first truck (probably at Line-x) and had tiny black dots in some locations. Price wise, they will come close and both prevent objects (or yourself )from slidding to a certain degree and both won't trap moisture.

I'm sure a bed mat alone would be sufficiant for most people including myself but I never had one.

Spray and aftermarket bedmats do fine. I wouldn't worry much abt it if i'm not using the bed like work trucks hauling all sorts of stuff on a regular basis. Just keep it clean and dry, it doesn't rust just like that.

Watched youtube video of installation of Ford drop in bedliner and realized there are removable rubber covers over the tie downs and LED light switch that could be easily lost which wasn't what I was going for. Lots of threads regarding with pros and cons on what is perfect.

Getting Line X put in tomorrow and have the Ford bed mat to put over to help the knees.

Also plenty of posts regarding BedRug which was my first choice until a buddy showed me his Line X in his Raptor. The BedRug looks sweet, but we do a fair share of yearly mulch/landscaping stuff and didn't know if I wanted to pick it out of the rug.

Also adding the following and hope it works OK with the Line X as I've picked my number of small rocks/mulch out of the space between bed and tailgate.

Will say this forum is addictive and will drain the wallet.....

The BedRugs seem great especially if you're going to put a camper shell on. Then typically you're not shoveling a bunch of crap into your bed, its a nice clean enclosed space.

Here are some differences:

Thickness - LINE-X is about 125 mils on the floor. Factory is about 65 mils.
Fading - LINE-X Premium and Platinum are aliphatic (UV stable) and will keep its color similar to your truck's paint. Factory is aromatic (not UV stable) and will fade a lot faster.
Warranty - LINE-X is lifetime. Factory is 3 yrs/36K miles.
Repair - Any LINE-X dealer can make a repair with original product. Truck dealership can make a repair as long as it dime size or smaller, but does not have the original product. If the repair is larger than a dime, they will send it out to a company like LINE-X.

Had my truck bed sprayed today. I love it. Looks great, don't have to worry about scratches and like the texture. Well worth the money.
