Default Bed lighting for dummies

Looking to see what LED bed options are available for my 300a xlt. I know nothing when it comes to wiring, but not opposed to learning. TIA

What I did (which may not be right for you) was put in a 3 position switch (On-Off-On), and connected it to a mercury switch in the tailgate as well as directly to ground, with the power coming from the taillight. In the mercury switch position, the light is off until you open the tailgate. In the other position, it's always on. For bedlights I used an overpriced kit that I wouldn't buy again, and the 3M adhesive peel off didn't last, but marine adhesive works great.

It’s more the wiring part that I need help with since I’m not prewired for the OEM kit. The LED strip lights are probably the best option but I don’t know where/how to do it.

Get some cheap LED cargo replacement lights off Amazon. Will blind you.

I think the manufacturer is JDM.

Do you really believe that Ford has more than wire harness? Look behind the driver taillight and examine the wires. You may not find a connector but you may find the two wires?
You probably will have to unwrap the harness down to the bumper area. Let us know what you find.

They do. And the wires are not there unless you already have OEM bed lights.

I think the wire harness for my truck and the XL are the same. I’ll pull the taillight tomorrow and look. Good suggestion to at least check.
