You can also install some pretty nice strip lights from
Amazon Amazon
or try these from https://www.f150leds.com/collections/2015-18-f150-leds/products/15-18_cargo_light_led.
The F150leds lights come with directions to connect to cargo light circuit so they will work from both inside the truck and bed light switch.

Thinking of adding these to my truck.

Here are a couple pics of the strip lighting in my Leer. Each strip has a separate on/off switch. Lots of lite, even with a single short strip on the sides.

It's definitely better to have lights than not to have them. They do come in handy especially if you have a tonneau that blocks external light, night or day. They do get blocked sometimes by what's in the back but not often. I like having them but I do wish there were lights up above shining down. I have a headlamp that's kept in the truck and sometimes use. They have never gotten in the way. It's a bit hard to find the switch if it's dark out. If I had an STX I would consider installing some kind of lighting in the box.

Very nice pictures! That is definitely what I'm going to do. Thanks for posting these pics.

I like my OEM lights but the only downside I've found is fumbling around to find the pushbutton switch in the dark. Any ideas on illuminating the switch or making it easier to find?

It is difficult to find that switch in the dark. I try but I can never hit it right away. I always have a small flashlight in my pocket so sometimes I use that to see the switch.

I have a 2017 XL/STX and added the OEM oval lights and wired them to my cargo light circuit. So I use my unlock on the fob to turn them on.

I like that idea. I wonder the current harness is anywhere close to tap that wire cargo light.
I thought about reflective tape or something around the current switch. Much less work/time and time isn't something I have much of.
