Default Bed light switch with bed extender

Ok I put on an oem bed extender on the truck but now I get get to the switch for the bed light. I was thinking about trying to make a some extension that would come up over the bed extender so I can turn on/off the light.

Anyone have the same issues and what if anything did you do to fix it.
I also have a bed cover on it....

Ya it’s definitely a poor location for the switch. You can use the button in the cab on headlight switch but it is an inconvenience

i don't have an extender but i do agree that it is difficult to find the switch in the dark! i would think that you could run an additional switch to the existing switch connected in parallel and locate it in a better location. I am not sure if the OEM switch is momentary or not, but that would be the first place to start.

I have the OEM bed extender and I can get the switch fine (my hands can go behind the extender). Once you get used to it a few times you'll get it no problem in the future.

Bed extender and tonneau cover coupled with my big stupid hands makes finding the damn switch a near impossibility... I now use the in cab switch

I solved that by wiring lights to the top of the window frames in my topper and putting the switch within easy reach. Of course, if you don't have a topper, then it isn't so easy. Ford's Idea is to flip the extender back and get to it that way, of course that is only if it is folded.
