Guys, just picked up a oem bed extender off a 2018. It came with the two bolts but mo sleeves. Guy i bought it from says he does not remember the sleeves being fitted.
So ca anyone confirm whether these sleeves are required? i would have thought thwy would be needed to allow the extender to rotate.

I am pretty sure the black plastic part is plugged into the extender itself (the folding part).
Insert plug (I don't think it falls out), insert bolt through plug and thread into the truck body.
If you do not have the black plastic part, it will just be sloppy, probably.

Yes I believe you are correct....there is a circular depression on the back of the extender, which would take the larger diameter of the sleeve.
I am also missing one of the four "feet" that contact the bed. Having no success finding a Ford # for those

Wanting to move my 04 extender to my (new to me) 16. Everything looks like it will work except..... The holes in the bed where the striker bolts in isn't threaded?! Am I missing something here?
Ok, I found a thread where someone just used the old bolt to make threads. I forgot these are aluminum! Here goes nothing!
Mine was not threaded, but I took a tap and did it myself. The bolt method should work too, but go slow and use lots of lube.
In general I think people make too much of dissimilar metals. It's it real, absolutely, but the corrosion isn't going to happen instantly but over years. Obviously if you live wear salt is used in winter, then it is accelerated. Anti seize or silicone are enough to minimize corrosion. In 10 years you might have an issue if you never removed the bolt.
