Default bed cover

I have a 2018 F150 SCREW and wanted to suggest a roll-up bed cover. I ordered this one off of Amazon and it fits great, easy to install (even after a few beers) by yourself, and with a little bit of additional weather strip from Home Depot, fits and performs great.

Amazon Amazon

My 2016 F150 had the same roll-up cover installed and it was fantastic and never let any moisture inside. I installed this one about a week ago and after a rain storm, noticed a little moisture in the bed. I picked up some weather stripping at Home Depot, added that and went down and washed my truck. No moisture inside. This roll-up is a great add on and is more functional in my opinion than the other hard covers (had them) and when rolled up, still allows use of the full bed of the truck. My other 2014 has a fold up hard cover and I hate when the rear window is blocked when the cover is fully opened. And the hard-cover is hard to fully open or close by yourself if you have shoulder issues like me. I hope this helps someone in their decision.

The soft covers are cool so long as you're not worried about securing (from theft) something in the back, don't want to put anything on top of it, and if you like the look of soft covers.

I had a soft cover on my first truck, a 2002 Dodge Ram, and it served me well for nearly 10 years.

Other than my 2017 Super Duty, I've put the Retrax Pro MX on a number of trucks. Love being able to lock everything up. Love being able to close it part way, then lock it, too. And you can literally stand on it (or put stuff on it if you need to). Yes, much pricier, but worth it for me.

I have been eyeballing this exact cover. How does it hold up to water? I know the bed covers aren’t waterproof but I just mainly mean if I had some suitcases or something in the back and it was raining or snowing does any water leak in anywhere?

My MX occasionally leaks at the corners, but the height of the ribbing on the floor of the bed insert keeps water away from getting to them. Need to have a slight level for the water to run out, or occasionally goose the throttle.

We just got new luggage, and it's plastic now, so no more worries.

If you go with an MX, think long and hard about the type of track you want. The roll-up canister takes up a huge amount of bed space. To compensate, you can get the track with rails in it for mounting a rack, or you can get stake pocket cut-outs (but not both cut-outs and rails). I use the rails with a Rhino Rack so I can carry longer, bulky items.

My MX is what I would call water resistant, but not water-proof. The worst area is the tailgate. If you mount it tightly enough to seal the gate, you will have a tough time opening the tailgate.

Can't beat that price, I'm just not a huge fan of the vinyl look. My '15 came with a Truxedo Pro-X15 and I just recently replaced the fabric (for about the same price as your cover). I like the fabric of the Truxedo with the lower profile. More costly though

I bought that exact one during a November sale for $132. I'm really happy with it so far...

I’m not to worried about losing bed space really. As long as there is room for a few suitcases or some bikes I’m ok. The thing I really care about are having a hard cover that locks and is at least decently water resistant when it’s raining or snowing. So far the retraxPRO XR is looking like the one I want to get. For $100 extra might as well get the T slots over the MX.
