Default BDS Leveling kit

Has anyone installed one of these yet with the pre load spacer? If so, have you noticed a difference between this one and a standard kit?

I bought the kit in January when I got my truck, but I still haven't installed it yet. I can't do it myself because I can't take the strut apart to install the pre load spacer on the top side of the spring... I'm starting to wonder if I should just get a regular kit so I can do it myself. I've taken it to a couple of my preferred mechanics, but they don't have a spring compressor big enough to do the job.

Is it worth it for me to take it to the dealership and pay $100/Hour to have them do it?

Spend $99 and get an Autospring kit. I'm surprised anyone is still making the two piece kit. I guess with some clever marketing phrases they can say their product does something different.

^ Agreed, no difference in the kits. Get a regular spacer and install yourself.

I actually have the BDS kit installed on my truck. I had one of my tech buddies help me install the front because i wasn't able to compress the springs myself. Other than that issue I like the kit.

Any difference in ride quality vs. stock on the BDS kit?

Honestly I am not certain. Since I changed the tires it wouldn't be an "apples to apples" comparison. The truck does ride a little stiffer compared to factory but noting that deterred me from wanting to keep the level on the truck.

It preloads the spring so the spring rate is changed, not sure if you'd feel it or not.

Actually the spring rate stays the same once its installed in the truck. They call it a preload spacer cause it has the spring compressed some when out of the truck. The weight of the truck compresses the spring, that little spacer doesn't add to the compression. The shock will have a different travel area is all.

Thanks fellas. My local shop won't do any leveling kit but this one, so just trying to figure out whether I'm cool with going their route.
