Did you read this: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/new-b...bms-no-460039/

Post 27 seems to say it does work and the Ford Engineer seems to say he was trying to get it added to the manual

This video from a Ford Tech confirms the mentioned procedure works for non rear fog light.

i just downloaded forscan in the laptop, connected to forscan using the obd Bluetooth adapter and reset the battery. Simple stuff to do, I replaced my battery before this trip, lasted about 6 years, not bad.

If i had to guess, 98%+ of F150 owners dont have Forscan and id bet that even if we all did, Ford wouldnt want us all doing the reset from our laptops...my only point was that for anything remotely "difficult" the manual says to take it in....in the section for "replacing the battery" it makes no mention of anything about a reset or to take it in (would assume it would at least say that since Ford is just out for our money right?).

According to the other threads it will reset eventually. If my battery ever dies ill try the man method and roll the dice

Also post 27 who is/was a ford engineer that dealt directly with the battery/electrical system states the manual reset works or:

There are algorithms in the BMS for the more likely case that a consumer replaces their own battery and not perform a reset. It is not an exact timeframe, but around the 3 week mark after replacing with a new battery, the BMS will know a new battery has been installed and will reset.”

hope all this helps, found about 50 threads and this one seemed the most helpful with some apparent knowledge
Perfect thanks! Answers my question, no reset for me.

agree... everything should be available in the menus... no need for additional devices... i got the obd adapter quite some time ago when i got the new motorcycle where you need that for everything including bleeding brakes, reset service countdown wrench, etc.... today i just used forscan free

Very familiar with that thread. You're referring to STORMSEARCH post 27. He wrote that statement December 2021 to that thread that began a while back. The AGM battery in my 2019 is about 3.5 years old and still just as strong. Maybe that's because I've kept the SOC up with a smart charger periodically, which Stormsearch states the long term benefit with doing so. Perhaps it slows the eventual internal resistance to current flow. I can't say.

My 2015, and 2017 trucks both still have the original batteries in them. 2015 gets driven almost every day, the 2017 maybe once every 2 weeks and stored in my pole barn every winter for about 4 months, so I put a charger on it periodically to keep the charge up. After reading this I will start locking it and letting it sit over night after each charging.
