Battery issue?
[QUOTE=digitaltrucker;7387507]You are insinuating that because a battery is inexpensive, it is rebuilt? Walmart? Can you offer to all of us details?

You may have misunderstood my comment. I didn't insinuate anything, I stated that I read it, and I chose to get a NAPA battery based on recommendation of the Ford engineer who seemed to know what he was talking about, Unfortunately, I didn't bookmark his post for reference.

I don't accept it because it's not a solution and it stifles discussion. There are hundreds of thousands of F150s on the road, normal people, most of which probably don't even know what a Battery Tender is, much less be willing to implement it.
Clearly there is something with Ford's battery management that we need to get to the bottom of and possibly come up with a workaround, which is one of the great benefits of forums. You don't hear of other brands having these issues, the *** concept is not new, why is the truck discharging the battery at such a fast rate, or at least faster than what most deem acceptable? That is the question.

Walmart has worked with East Penn Manufacturing for a long time, and the manufacturer may be the most well-known company that makes Walmart batteries. Lastly, Exide manufactures Walmart EverStart batteries. Exide is an Indian company that is one of the world's largest lead-acid battery manufacturers.Nov 20, 2022

Walmart Brand Car Batteries: Who Makes Them?
Fully charge the new battery before you put it in the truck, or as soon as possible after the new battery is installed; that way you know battery SOC is as close to 100% as you can get. Then reset the BMS system with the procedure attached. Then lock the truck using the driver's lock switch, close the door, and let it sit untouched for at least 8 hours so the new battery SOC is learned by the system(s). These steps will give you the best shot at no issues moving forward. If you leave the truck sitting for 2 weeks or more without driving it, IMO it's simply a prudent move to hook up a battery tender and charge the battery back up.
Some people say yes, some say no.
With your issues I would absolutely consider resetting the BMS and the SOC essential. If you want to have the best opportunity at fixing the issues you have had, all of the recommended steps will do just that.
The BMS has an "aging" factor that changes the charging behavior based on battery age. If you don't reset it, the new battery will be charged based on those incorrect, lower charge rate parameters. Both the BMS reset and SOC reset are very easy to do and take very little time to implement.

I have a 2018 and my factory battery has been on the outs for several months now. My wife has a 2018 Wrangler Sahara and her factory battery failed completely after sitting for about a week. So, I decided it was time to play with my tools and swap them both out. I went to Wal-Mart and bought two identical Everstart Platinum H7 batteries and swapped them out. Good to go! By the way, don't forget to reset your BMS. Turn ignition on, but don't start the truck. Flash your high beams 5 times, then press on brake pedal (only hard enough to illuminate the brake lights) 3 times, then power off and back to ignition on (don't start) and you'll see the battery icon on the instrument cluster flash several times. Then start the truck and let it idles for a few moments. Easy-peasy!
I like living on the edge. Last year my 2016’s auto SS spent more time off than operating. I picked a time when it was working and pulled the battery, took it to Advance Auto, bought a new one and swapped it in. I didn’t move the truck until the next day. Since, the auto ss has worked flawlessly. I chose Advance because I had a $30 off coupon. I’ll let you know if not resetting the BMS makes any difference.
