Yes it has Start/Stop, it had quit stopping the last couple times I drove it, the day before it died, after driving for 30 minutes or so it did start working again right before I parked it. I never attributed that to a low battery, but will in the future. Also no codes or engine lights indicating a charging system problem. . even my 2006 was good about that when the alternator went bad.

I've been down the road of trying to coax a battery along for a bit longer. . .

Truck is sitting idle today so it should rescan battery stats, will have a few miles on it tomorrow. Saturday I'm putting forscan on a computer and resetting BMS. I've never used forscan so there will be a leaning process but in looking there are plenty of tutorials I don't think that will be an issue.

Thanks for the replies. All these new features on a truck are very new to me. . makes my 2006 look like my son's '62 falcon. . . .

Over the course of a day or 2 the BMS system will eventually relearn the new battery SOC (state of charge) but that's not quite the same as a BMS reset which forces the computer to reset all battery parameters and recognizes a new battery was installed. Just replacing it doesn't do this. Forscan should be able to do this for you as far as I know, I haven't looked for it myself.

Yes, Forscan can do the BMS reset.

As far as the 5 volt battery... send it to the recycle facility. It's dead, Jim.

I find it irritating that Ford FAILED to make it super easy for the F150 owner to do the BMS reset on their own (as in scan tool or software/pc not needed).......like resetting oil life indicator.

Probably 50% of F50 owners would do their own battery replacement, and 95% of those are completely unaware of this BMS reset.

You can reset it from the driver's seat. It's not SUPER easy, but it's also not at all difficult.

it's really not that common a thing and many owners won't change their battery themselves. I mean percentage wise I bet it's less than 10% of owners. Also if I recall correctly it's spelled out in the manual as needed.

Hell in my Exploder it doesn't act right if the BMS isn't reset by computer. I've replaced 2 batteries in that damn thing (long story short push button start cars need the key removed from the vehicle, wifey likes to leave hers in the purse, in the car, in the garage, overnight). mucks up the TPMS readings until the BMS is reset.

Why I'm not 100% certain - but I also let the dealer replace both of them because warranty. The next one I will do myself because- not warranty. Batteries these days are spendy.

I found this document some time ago. Doesn't quite sound like it will work on a F150, but you could give it a try.

HAHA! Thanks! I'm surprised they don't have us patting our head with one hand while rubbing stomach with the other?
