Battery going bad...
I will have had my truck 1 year next month (was bought new). The battery was dead this past weekend. I charged it at 10A for about 7 hours, then drove it for about 45 mins. I checked this evening after I got home from work, and the voltage is down to 12.3V already. I checked for off draw after charging it Sunday, and found 23MA, which should be okay. I can find nothing about the battery in the warranty guide. What kind of warranty does a new vehicle battery have? What kind of aggravation will it be if I take it to a dealer? I'm tempted to just get a new battery, and install it myself. I can get an Interstate through where I work. The alternator must be okay, was showing 14.7V with the engine running. I have the battery cable off now, to see if it drops more voltage by tomorrow evening. If it does, I'll know the battery is bad. I just wondered how much hassle trying to get warranty on a battery is. It is a burden for me to have to take to a dealer, and I worry about it quitting on the road.
Just wanted some advice, thanks!

Batteries are wear & tear items. Many don't realize that there new car/truck could have been jumped/moved/jumped/moved several times if it's been on a lot for 6 plus months before selling. While you can go to the dealer, it's often easiest just to suck up the cost of the wear & tear item. Just my .02 worth....
Batteries are wear and tear but they still have warranties. Yours should have a two or three year full replacement factory warranty. I'd atleast call the dealer before I just "sucked it up".
Yeah I think the battery is 12 month 12,000 mile replacement. Probably sat on the lot a while and got a bad cell. Have heard of it happening, very common with all the BMS bull crap and Auto S/S now a days. Exactly why I disabled BMS which disabled AS/S for me...

I think you disconnect the battery connection at the firewall, something as simple as thing...but maybe I'm missing a key component. No side-effects.
I've never gotten less than ( 5 ) years out of an OEM battery, ( 7 ) out of two of them using a trickle charger.
A one year old battery sounds defective, you have nothing to loose by going to your dealership..

Disabling BMS (Battery Management System) causes the truck to use a conventional charging strategy like they have for decades. BMS is a new high tech way to keep the battery at "Optimum Levels" which in my opinion if driven short distances or infrequently can cause battery fatigue and other issues..
